End of Year

Well:
Graduation is now over.  It does go by in a blur doesn’t it.  The bandroom is now only another silent room.   Before you know it, you will all be on your seperate ways persuing your chosen courses of study at the universities you have chosen to attend.  I hope you enjoyed last nights graduation.  Congratulations to all.  Never forget where you have come from and the people who supported you along the way.  Take pride in your accomplishments and be proud of yourself in the journey on which you now embark. 
To all of you who leave the family we call the band,  I want you to know how very proud I am of  you and of how much I am going to miss our little talks and the humour.  I was once asked why I decided to become a teacher .  I think  I finally know the answer.  You are.  Thank you for allowing me to re-discover within myself the passion with which I now live.  
You all have it within you to do great things not just for yourselves, but for others.  Never forget that.  Allow the song that is uniquely yours to be heard .  Continue to spread the music.
Good luck next year to all of you and remember, there is always a place for you here in “our” bandroom.

End of this year and into next

Hi all:

Congrats to all who are successfully graduating this year.  It has gone very quickly, as will the summer.  Enjoy it while it lasts as the responsibilities of University and College are rapidly closing in. 

As many of you may or may not know, I will not be back at the school next year (possibly for 2 weeks in September/I hope).  I am going to be taking a year or so off to “travel” abroad.  I will continue to use this blog site to keep all of you informed with as much info as I am permitted to pass on.  May change the site slightly as I go along to reflect the new challenge.  As you all know, I am not the greatest at maintaining a website.  A bit challenged WRT computers at times.  Trying to mend the errors of my ways though. 

Reminders to some of my students before the years end though:

GRADE 10 & 11 BAND STUDENTS:  Our next rehearsal will be the day of the Graduation (Tuesday June 23rd) at 1 pm in the band room at the school.  You will all be there, no excuses!!  We need to set up for the grad in the evening and practice in the gym.  Should be short and sweet.  You are expected to be back by 6pm in the evening for the ceremonies dressed in concert attire..

GRADE 12 BAND STUDENTS:  I look forward to seeing you all at the prom and the grad ceremonies.  You must see me in the band room before you leave the school after the Grad ceremony.  I think you all know why.  Enough said.

To all, it has been a pleasure this year.  I wish you all the best of luck next year.  Work hard, have fun, take a risk and make a difference.
