Good day to all.

Some reminders again:  Honours band students are meeting every Tuesday at lunch (11:45 – 12:15 ) to go over their music.  minimum interruptions in the band room would be apapreciated.  Other than that;  any day you need help or want to practice, feel free to come in as I am always there.  You are even welcome to come in on your prep periods if you want to practice or just hang around.

Thanks go out to Matt Briggs and Stephanie White for their help in organizing the library in the bandroom and getting it on the computer.  Also to Chelcie Buell for her help in the initial organization of the mess.

 Grade 10, 11 and 12.

Your next skill will be Concert D major and D Minor with arpeggio.  They will be due the week before Christmas and you can find them on my link to scales.  Just print the applicable page and you’re ready to rock.

 Grade 9

You need to begin working on concert D major as you will test before Christmas also.  Look in my link to scales and print applicable page.

Grade 7

We will test the entire B flat scale and  arpeggio  the week before Christmas so get  looking at it.  Look in my link to scales and print the applicable scale page in the proper clef (bass or treble depending on what instrument you play ).

As a note :  there are several of you who still owe me skills tests and have not done them.  You know who you are so get in and get them done because after Christmas they will be worth zero ( though you will still have to play them for me).  I don’t want this to happen, but the ball is in your court.   Get them done!!

Hope you all have a great day.

Hello to all.  This is my first attempt at a blog so be patient please.  Some reminders :  The Band christmas concert is Thursday Dec. 6th at 7 pm.  All band students are asked to be at the school no later than 6:30 to get prepared for the concert.  Dress is Black pants (or skirt for the girls) and your band shirt.  For grade 7 students the dress is  black pants/skirt and plain white shirt.   Also, the grade 9 – 12 band will be playing at the school variety show on Monday Dec. 10th.  I will post the time in class and then on this sight when it is confirmed

The Key to becoming a better player is to practice, practice, practice.  The basic language of the music you play will continue to be the scales you practice.  Incorporate scales into your daily practice along with the music you need to look at.

Remember also that to become very good very fast, you must practice very slowly.
